Gilan Textile Park hired more than 1,000 workers without a labor contract

Officially opened with the third of May this year with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev's textile complex Gilan Textile Park hired more than 1,000 employees, with which it has not signed individual employment contracts. The company during the month failed to respond to oral and written request from Turan about it.

According to the workers, because of the high unemployment rate among women who want to work at the company, there were many. Work begins at 8 am and ends at 6 pm. Lunch break lasts only half an hour. Under such a regime, workers are forced to come to work on Saturdays.

At the opening of the enterprise Ilham Aliyev said that workers receive higher wages. This is not true. The average monthly wage, despite the 57 hour work week and the average monthly wage in the country is at more than 400 manat, but at Gilan Textile Park it is AZN 250. Getting a good salary is the management of the company that has been involved from Turkey. Their term of these days expires, and they pass control to local staff. It is also unknown whether the pay received from the state permission to hire foreign workers.

In the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan they told Turan that under the law any enterprise, attracting an employee for any period of work should enter the labor agreement. In this case, the calculation is made on the date of employment. The contract shall be subject to imprisonment from the date of employment, and employment history, in his absence, the employee shall be granted within five days. Apparently, this does not apply to Gilan Textile Park. Employees of the company made it clear that the employment contract would not be for at least 12 months.

Recall that the Textile Park Gilan, built on an area of ??20 hectares includes enterprises of light industry - weaving, dyeing and garment factories. The company received government support: its construction, with a total project, cost 46 million manat and a soft loan of 15 million manat was allocated.

On the territory of the textile park there are being built spinning and knitting factories. Once these companies will be put into operation, they will open additional 2 000 new jobs. In general, the Textile Park Gilan will provide work for 4 000 people.

After commissioning of the company, which produces cotton products as well as products from a blend of cotton and polyester (fabrics, military uniforms, uniforms, men's, women's and children's clothing, bed linen, bath clothing) imports of similar products was limited.
