Mortality for Cancer Increases by 0.8%
The State Statistics Committee disclosed the statistics of mortality in the country for 2015, with reference to the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, according to which mortality from cancer grew by 0.8 percentage points and amounted to 13.3%. Officially, it is second only to cardiovascular diseases (60%).
According to medical reports, in 2015 7,278 people died from cancer, 296 people more than in 2014. In general, it was the highest figure in recent years.
Overall, in 2011-2015 32,528 people died from cancer in Azerbaijan.
According to SSC, in 2015, the diagnosis of the presence of cancer was issued for 11,118 people, including 5,216 women. Total at the beginning of 2016 Azerbaijan registered 40,653 patients with malignant tumors.
It should be noted that international statistics show cancer is in the lead in cases of death in 12 countries in Europe, ahead of cardiovascular diseases.
Some people believe the situation with cancer in Azerbaijan is not beter. However, the official government agencies “flatten” the statistics. ---08B
