The list of taxpayers, who do not meet their obligations to pay taxes, includes four foreign companies operating in the field of mining and oil and gas industry services.
The Taxes Ministry updated a sort of "black list" of tax evader companies and individuals, which included 197 subjects as of November 26. Among them were subsidiaries of companies HESS (ACG) Limited, Karasu Development Company, Rotery Engineering Limited and Petroleum Services Group SA. The amount of the debt is not reported.
Among the relatively large companies that fail to tax compliance are also the dairy factory Milk-Pro, the winery venture Baki Sharab-2, the construction design company Ltd. Hydrotechniki ve Negliyyat Gurgularinin Layihelendirilmesi Uzre Hydrotransproject Elmi Tedgigat Merkezi (former Tekhnomost), the cannery Ltd. Miri Grand et al.
The Ministry of Taxes says that many companies, despite the financial capacity, delay the implementation of tax liability within the terms. Therefore, from September this year, it started to make public the list of such entities.
Many economic experts have noted that all the key financial and economic levers are concentrated in the hands of the ruling oligarchs, who are reluctant to provide the public with information on tax payments. Moreover, it is argued that these holding companies pay paltry sums to the state budget.
In many countries, the payment of taxes to the state is considered a matter of honor. The state publishes the ranking of taxpayers who pay the most taxes. In Azerbaijan, the amount of tax payments is considered a trade secret by the law. --08B--
