Akif Muradverdiyev: Charges against me are "vile lie"

Former manager of the president of Azerbaijan, Akif Muradverdiyev, kept in jail by the Ministry of National Security (MNS), spread through his lawyer, Fuad Agayev, a statement in which he denied his involvement in the "conspiracy against President Ilham Aliyev."

The accusation was made in an article by Eynulla  Fatullayev, who argues that Muradverdiyev was involved in conspiracy against Aliyev, along with former Deputy Prime Minister, Abbas Abbasov, a businessman Telman Ismailov, head of the "Lukoil," Vagit Alekperov, members of the National Council, Rustam Ibrahimbayov,  Eldar Namazov and others. The conspiracy was allegedly organized by the head of the Russian presidential administration, Vacheslav Volodin.

Muradverdiyev called these claims fiction and vile lie. He also denied allegations he told the investigation about a meeting of Namazova with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Serbia, Eldar Hasanov.

Muradverdiyev categorically refutes the allegations of his links with Volodin and other representatives of the Russian government. "This big lie only causes disgust," said Muradverdiyev.
