Mammadyarov called Turkic countries to deepen cooperation
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov called Turkic countries to deepen multilateral cooperation.
Speaking on August 15, in Gabala, at the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Turkic Cooperation Council countries, Mammadyarov noted the need to enhance bilateral trade and investment, joint ventures and joint projects.
He also recalled the important support of the UN telecommunications project TASIM (Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway), and expressed confidence that the Turkic countries will establish the Eurasian Telecommunication Union.
Mammadyarov welcomed the launch of structures such as the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries and Turksoy, and expressed hope for an early start of the Foundation of Turkic Cultural Heritage.
However, he pointed out the factors impeding the development of regional cooperation - aggressive separatism, conflicts of national and ethnic origin, and attempts of violent change of internationally recognized borders.
He thanked all participants for their support of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries anticipates the Summit of Heads of State opening on August 16.
