Nasimi District Court leaves T.Yagublu in custody
Today the Nasimi district court rejected a petition to change the measure of restraint, the arrest of deputy chairman of the party "Musavat", Tofig Yagublu.
According to the lawyer Akif Alizadeh, the trial took place with the participation of Yagublu.
The court did not take into account the arguments of the defense that Yagublu is not a "hardened criminal," that he will not leave his home, and does not intend to put pressure on witnesses.
Yagublu and head of the movement "Republican Alternative", Ilgar Mammadov, were arrested on February 4 in connection with the events of February 23-24 in Ismayilli region. They were charged under Articles 233 (organization of actions aimed at disturbing public order and participating in them), and 315.2 (resisting the police force, which poses a threat to life and health.)
The accused deny the charges; the lawyers of the accused indicate that in January Yagublu and Mamedov, during riots in Ismayilli, were not there.
On January 24 they arrived in the city to review the situation, and to obtain information on the causes of the riots from local residents.—16B06-
