Panah Huseyn Refutes Ilham Aliyev
Baku / 27.11.19 / Turan: Allegations that the government of the Popular Front / Musavat plundered the Gold Fund in 1992-93 are not true. This was stated by former Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Panah Huseyn, commenting on the statements of Ilham Aliyev at the 100th anniversary of BSU.
According to him, the Fund was created in July 1992 by the decree of the then President of Azerbaijan Abulfaz Elchibey. Over the year, it collected about 4 tons of gold and other jewelry.
In June 1993, after the resignation of Elchibey, acceptance of the contents of the Fund by the new government took place and no shortage was revealed.
In 1998, the Fund was abolished without any explanation and the fate of the gold and jewelry collected in it remained unknown.
According to Huseyn, in 2010 he sent a deputy request for the fate of the Fund. “But instead of answering the request, attacks started on me, and they began to threaten me with arrest. The press wrote about this and this is reflected in the transcript of the meeting of the parliament,” Huseyn said.
He called the allegations of his involvement in the theft from the Fund a slander. –06D--
