The Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety (IRFS) issued a statement condemning the cyber attacks on the newspaper Azadlig website. IRFS believes that as the presidential election approaches, the pressure on freedom of expression is enhanced.
Authors of the statement authors point out hackers are using the following methods of attack: Layer 7, UDP, SYN flooding, and DNS reflection.
The newspaper Azadlig addressed the cyber attacks to the Ministry of National Security, but the ministry has not taken any definite action. IRFS calls on the authorities to investigate cases of cyber attacks on critical media sites and to take action against those responsible for these attacks.
The statement states the cyber attacks began Aug. 13 and continues to this day. -16D04-

On October 9, President Ilham Aliyev met with Amina Mohammed, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, to discuss preparations for COP29. During the meeting, Mohammed stated that the main theme of the upcoming conference would be financial issues. She expressed hope that the international community would establish new financial goals.
