Chairman of the Committee to Protect the Rights of Mahir Abdullayev waits statements from the Ministry of National Security (MNS)
MNS will necessarily make a statement about the kidnapping my uncle, said Azad Mursaliyev, head of the committee to protect the rights of Mahir Abdullayev, and nephew of Mahir Abdullayev, in an interview with "Objective TV".
According to him, the Committee was set up internally after it became clear that the authorities do not intend to investigate the case.
Azad himself was arrested by law enforcement agencies at the airport, when he wanted to take his mother for treatment in Cyprus. He tried to appeal to court against the persons who detained him. More than three months passed from the date of the statement of claim, but the court extended the investigations until 6 March.
None law enforcement agency has taken responsibility for his detention at the airport, and even the Interior Ministry sent a letter that there is no reason for leaving.
There are a lot of rumors on the kidnapping of the Major of Interior Ministry, Mahir Abdullayev, but there are not specific data - his car was found, people to whom he spoke last on the eve of kidnapping on the night of 13 October 2003 were also found.
Mursaliyev believes that the kidnapping of his uncle is due to the desire of criminals to take away the University from Elshad Abdullayev. Mahir Abdullayev’s whereabouts are unknown, although according to some information, he was kept in the "basement" of one of the security agencies.
Committee has gathered signatures of famous scientists, cultural workers and artists, and prominent members of the public on a petition demanding a fair investigation into the kidnapping an officer of the MNS.
"I believe the head of state, and his wife. After their intervention a special commission of inquiry was created, and it was a step forward in the investigation. I believe in the NGO and civil society in general. Together we will be able to restore justice and civil rights of Mahir Abdullayev and all those affected to find the truth in this case," said Mursaliyev. --17D—
