Childrens Rights Observed Badly - Expert
Baku / 01.06.17 / Turan: Rights of children in Azerbaijan are provided at a very low level, the head of the League for the Protection of Children's Rights Yusif Bekirov said on the occasion of the Day of Protection of Children's Rights - June 1.
Children's rights are sacrificed to corruption. "It all began with the fact that the premises of many kindergartens were withdrawn, and high-rise buildings were erected in their place. No one remembered about the rights of children then.
According to official data, 18% of children are provided with kindergartens, and the remaining 82% are not. "These are official figures, but I suppose that, at best, 8% of children are provided with kindergartens. There are many reasons for this, but the most important ones are financial problems, for the price of kindergartens is too high and is inaccessible for many parents.
The problems of children do not end there, Bekirov said.
The biggest problem is the low level of education.
"It's not a secret that students before entering a university have to study their subjects with tutors, without whose help the access is unlikely, even if the student has studied well at school," Bekirov said.
According to him, Azerbaijan does not react to the UN recommendations on protection of children's rights and does not prepare an alternative report on the state of protection of children's rights. -05B-
