During the year 8934 earthquakes have been recorded
Baku / 19.12.17 / Turan: 8934 earthquakes have been registered in Azerbaijan in the outgoing year, according to the Center of the Republican Seismological Service with reference to the head of this structure Gurban Yetirtmishli, who delivered an annual report at a joint meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council and the Department of Earth Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. According to him, there were 3642 earthquakes in Azerbaijan, 2087 - close countries, 3205 - distant ones; 78 earthquakes were of a magnitude higher than 3 and 26 of them were felt.
Although the number of earthquakes decreased compared to 2016, their strength increased.
So, in 2016, 4528 earthquakes occurred in Azerbaijan, and the magnitude of the most powerful was 5.6. In 2017 there were 3,642 earthquakes, and the highest magnitude will be 5.7. -05D-
