Earthquake in Northwest Azerbaijan
Baku / 08.10.19 / Turan: An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 in the Zagatala region of the country (450 km from Baku) occurred on August 10 at 11:35, the Republican Center for Seismological Service (RCSS) of the National Academy of Sciences reports.
According to the RCSS, tremors were recorded at a depth of 2 km. At the epicenter (17 km southwest of the city of Zagatala), the strength of the tremors was 6 points, and in the surrounding areas it was 3-5 points. No injuries or damage were reported.
Note that strong earthquakes are regularly recorded in this zone. In 2012, an earthquake of 5.5 points in this zone destroyed or damaged more than a thousand residential and utility buildings in the Balakan, Zagatala and Sheki districts of the country. -02D-
