Baku / 14.05.18 / Turan: The first entrance exams to higher and secondary special educational institutions of the country for the academic year of 2018-2019 were held in Azerbaijan on May 13. The start of the traditional spring marathon was given to entrants of the II and III groups of specialties.
As Turan was told in the press service of the State Examination Center, the examinations were held in Baku, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Sumgayit, Mingachevir, Sheki, Barda, Goychay, Shirvan, Lankaran and Khachmaz. More than 36 thousand entrants took part in the testing, of which 17,253 applied for economic specialties, and 19,306 applied for humanitarian specialties.
The oldest of the entrants is 58 years old, and the youngest is 15. But there are other equally interesting details of the admission campaign. Unlike in previous years, this year, for the two groups indicated, the girls clearly dominate: 20,365 to 16,194.
In addition, graduates of general educational institutions prevail - they are more than 28 thousand people.
To participate in the spring session of admission examinations to universities and colleges, 69,698 applicants passed the documents. However, the admission of documents for summer examinations to be held in July will be announced soon.
Though official statistics on the planned places in universities have not been made public, the data for Groups II and III have been announced. According to the Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the State Examination Center, Maleyka Abbaszadeh, 13,395 planned places were allocated for Group II in higher educational institutions, and 10,679 places - for Group III. Compared to last year, this is 4% and 9% more, respectively.
Such dynamics mean that the country needs economists, financiers and marketers, but most of all we need lawyers, sociologists, social workers, and translators. The sphere of social services, which people with disabilities, single people and children need, is expanding.
Another important point is that entrants have higher chances of admission to higher education. So, according to the rules, the participants of the spring session can participate in the summer exams, if they wish, in order to score higher scores and compete in the choice of specialties.
In addition, under the new rules, the entrant will be able to take the exam in different groups of specialties. For example, the entrant of Group I can take part in Groups II or IV at the summer exam, if he is sure that he will cope with the tasks. Therefore, he can also participate in the competition for the selection of specialties in two or three groups. But he will be admitted to the university on one of the first three specialties indicated in his application. -0-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
