Baku / 04.12.15: As a result of the cold snap on the evening of December 3 and on the night of December 4, heavy precipitation in the form of rain and snow was observed, accompanied by a strong north wind.
According to weather forecasters, rainfall in Absheron was 15-32 mm. which is equal to 60-90% of the monthly norm.
In the Lankaran-Astara zone precipitation was 13-52 mm (70-128% of the monthly norm), and in the Central Lowlands it was 18-38 mm (87-132% of the monthly norm).
In the mountains of the Greater Caucasus there was 5-35 mm (70-90% of the normal amount), and in the Lesser Caucasus there was 7-17 mm (27-57% of the normal amount).
The snow depth in Khynalyg was 59 cm, in Gabala - 37 cm, in Lerik - 32 cm, in Altiaghach - 31 cm, and in Sheki - 25 cm.
On 4 December precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow will continue, being intense in several places.
The strong north wind will continue. The air temperature in Baku and Absheron will be + 5 + 7 degrees during the day and +2 + 4 at night.
In regions of the country the wind will be westerly, in the mountains the snowfall will continue. In low-lying areas the temperature will drop to 0 degrees, and in the mountains it will be 3-8 degrees below zero. -02D-

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. "Thanks to the urgent and necessary measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the spread of the fire to neighboring areas, including nearby residential buildings, has been prevented," the statement reads. Efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing.
