Baku / 24.02.18 / Turan: The Musavat party will appeal to the court next week against the chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazadeh. The party believes that Pashazadeh violated the Constitution and the Electoral Code of Azerbaijan.
On February 14, Pashazadeh urged believers to vote for Ilham Aliyev at the extraordinary presidential election.
"According to the Constitution of Azerbaijan, religion is separated from the state and religious figures cannot engage in politics. Head of the CMO, Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazadeh instructed religious figures during the Friday prayers to urge believers to vote for Ilham Aliyev and warned that this will be controlled. Thus, he violated the Electoral Code, for the pre-election campaign has not yet begun," Turan was told by the head of Musavat Arif Hajili. -06D-
