Baku / 27.06.19 / Turan: The opening ceremony of the campaign "Protect Your Rights!" was held in Baku on June 27. Campaign on Reproductive Health and Rights was organized by women's society.
"In the name of regional development." The head of this NGO, Shahla Ismail, spoke about the goals of the campaign, which should clarify the extent of women's reproductive health and legal shortcomings.
Ismail said that one of the main goals of the campaign is to eradicate corruption by changes in the attitude of the state and the public to reproductive health and rights in Azerbaijan.
According to her, there are no official statistics on reproductive health in the country. "The situation with reproductive health is terrifying. There is no family in Azerbaijan that would not have problems in this area. We often deal with the negligence of doctors, child and maternal mortality, infectious diseases, selective abortions, and so on. We read about all this in the news, but we do not know exactly about the scale of it, because there is no exact statistics," she said.
Despite all this, for more than 10 years, the Milli Majlis cannot adopt the Law on Reproductive Health.
Ismail reported that a website has been created: www.cyr.az on this issue, containing surveys and materials on reproductive health. People can access the site and get answers to their questions. -0-
