Repeated Investigation into Journalist Javid Shiraliyev's Case
Baku / 27.01.18 / Turan: The Gandja Court of Appeal opened a second investigation in the case of the editor of the www.7gun.az portal Javid Shiraliyev, who was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.
The second trial is held in connection with the partial satisfaction by the Supreme Court of the journalist's appeal and the decision to hold a new investigation into the Shiraliyev case.
According to the human rights activist Ogtay Gulaliyev, at the hearing in the Gandja Court of Appeal, Shafiga Khankishieva, who was recognized as a victim, began to evade the answers to the questions of the defense. She answered vaguely "I do not know."
Another witness Asif Orujov said he had lied about Shiraliyev under physical pressure in the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He refused the previous testimony.
Other witnesses gave contradictory testimony.
The next meeting is scheduled for February 9. Shiraliyev himself will speak with testimony there.
It should be reminded that the editor of the news portal www.7gun.az Javid Shiraliyev was sentenced on May 22, 2016 to 5 years of imprisonment by the Grave Crimes Court of Gandja City on charges of extortion by threats (articles 182.2.1 and 182.2.4 of the Criminal Code)
Shiraliyev was detained by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on August 30, 2014 and taken to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (MDCOC). He was accused that, in collusion with Asif Akif Oglu Orujov in June 2013, he extorted 2,000 manat from Shafiga Khankishiyeva, threatening to spread compromising material about her cafe in the village of Govlar in the Tovuz region.
It should be noted that at the end of December 2012 Javid Shiraliyev was persecuted after he reported to the media that the rights of the poet Bakhtiyar Hidayat were violated on the border bridge Krasny Most on December 23.
The lawyer Zabil Gahramanov told Turan the court could not prove Shiraliyev's guilt and all the testimonies are based on the statements of one person - Shafiga Khankishiyeva, who has problems with justice. -06D-
