The court left Azad Hasanov in custody
Baku / 26.12.18 / Turan: The Khatai District Court of Baku considered the petition to transfer Musavat party activist Azad Hasanov to house arrest, Turan was told by lawyer Osman Kyazimov.
However, according to him, the court rejected the petition.
The defense considers this decision unsubstantiated and will appeal.
The lawyer also reported on the violation of the rights of Hasanov in the detention center. After his arrest, he is not allowed to meet with his relatives.
Kyazimov said that the defense will send two complaints to the European Court of Human Rights - on illegal arrest and on violation of rights in the SIZO.
Azad Hasanov has been in political emigration in Lithuania since 2014. On October 10, he returned to Baku to visit his seriously ill father. However, the next day he was detained. He was charged under Article 234.4.3 (drug trafficking on a large scale) of the Criminal Code. On October 12, the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of arrest for a period of four months. The party "Musavat" said the political motives of the persecution of Hasanov.
