TV channels violate the literary language - NTRS
Baku / 15.08.17 / Turan: The phonetic, lexical, grammatical, stylistic norms of the literary Azerbaijani language are violated on Azerbaijani TV channels. This is evidenced by the results of joint monitoring of national television channels by the National TV and Radio Council and the faculty of Azerbaijani linguistics of Baku State University. Monitoring included Public Television, ATV, "Space", "Lider", "Xazar" and ARB. During monitoring, conducted in June-July 2017, 851 violations were recorded, including 371 - phonetic norms, 177 lexical, 200 grammatical, 104 - stylistic.
"I can find an acceptable quick speech of TV presenters. Sometimes they speak so quickly that it is impossible to understand the essence of what has been," said Nurshiravan Maharramli, chairman of the NTRC, at today's press conference. The purity of the literary Azerbaijani language should be protected.
"Today, the foreign languages of large states seem to have turned into an attack on our language. It is difficult to fight against this, but we must do what is possible," Maharramli added.
Another disturbing point he called the speech on the TV channels in the dialects of different regions.
The monitoring was carried out within the framework of the project funded by the State Fund for Media Support. -05B D06-
