Who is spreading rumors that Russian Peacekeeping Contingent (RPC) have left Karabakh?

Baku/14.03.22/Turan: Against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian war, information, audio and video recordings about certain processes taking place in Karabakh are being disseminated in the news, audio recordings and messages on social networks. According to the Ministry of Defense, there is currently no redeployment or movement of units of the Azerbaijani army.

“The videos and photos being distributed are old footage taken during the Patriotic War and at various exercises held earlier,” he said. Discussion of this subject is forming misconceptions among the public and serves to spread military and state secrets.

“We urge users of social networks not to succumb to such provocations and not to distribute information that has not been confirmed,” the message says. Who disseminates such information and for what purpose?

Ilham Ismail, an expert on judicial issues,  commented on these and other questions in the “Difficult Question” program.

According to Ilham Ismail, he just returned from Karabakh yesterday, where he spent several days. “There are practically no redeployments, movements of troops in Karabakh. And no shots were heard. There is complete peace,” he says.

In his opinion, the reason for the emergence of such rumors is the spread of messages on social networks that among the Russian military personnel taken prisoner by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were conscripts of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RPC), transferred to Ukraine from Karabakh.

“After these reports, some of our compatriots decided that the entire RMC was transferred to Ukraine and none of them remained in Karabakh, and we will calmly take control of Khojaly and Khankendi,” Ilham Ismail suggests.

“To think that Russia has become so weak that it is leaving Karabakh, completely transferring RPC to Ukraine is naivete. Russia is a gigantic empire capable of fighting on multiple fronts. As for the Khojaly region, it is possible that our military took some measures there in order to suppress the provocations of the enemy. However, it is impossible to conduct an anti-terrorist operation in Karabakh right now, when Russia is extremely aggressive. This can cause undesirable consequences,” Ilham Ismail believes.
He did not rule out that such messages could be spread with the Armenian side with a provocative purpose in order to create a military incident.
