EU special representative to discuss situation on Lachin road and EU mission on border in Yerevan and Baku
Baku/23.01.23/Turan: EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar arrived on Monday on a one-day visit to Yerevan.
He wrote on his Twitter account that he would hold a series of discussions around the situation in the Lachin corridor and the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
According to diplomatic sources, Klaar will arrive in Baku from Yerevan to discuss the same issues.
Recall that on January 17, the European Union announced that it was preparing to send a long-term mission (for 2 years) consisting of 200 people to the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The final decision on this should be made today in Brussels.
Earlier, at the request of the Turan agency, the office of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security was informed that sending a long-term mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is "possible."
"A transition planning assistance group is currently deployed. It sets the stage for a possible longer-term EU mission to Armenia to promote sustainable peace in the region." -16B-
