Accused of high-profile murder in Sumgayit arrested

Baku/31.10.23/Turan: Mushvig Tagiyev, accused of killing two persons and wounding 4 more people in the village of Jorat in Sumgayit last Saturday, has been arrested,  a joint statement by the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office on October 31.

The investigation found that the previously convicted Tagiyev, born in 1987, "for the purpose of revenge on his neighbor Anar Farajev, on October 28 came to the courtyard where the latter's family lived, poured gasoline on the walls and set them on fire." After that, he detonated an improvised explosive device, and then opened fire with a rifle, killing Dagbeyi Farajev and Susana Karakash who left the house. He also wounded Tarlana Farajeva and Serkan Karakash, as well as their neighbors, Etibar Saryev and Mehman Saryev.

Tagiyev was charged under  the Articles 120.2.4, 120.2.7 (murder of two persons with extreme cruelty and in a generally dangerous way), 29, 186.2.1, 29, 186.2.2 ( attempted destruction of property by arson and explosion causing significant damage) and 229.1 (illegal manufacture of explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.  The preliminary investigation continues.

The Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan called on the media and users of social networks to comply with the requirements of the law and not to share unspecified information. 

Various versions of this crime were expressed in local media, including non-repayment of monetary debt. ---06B---
