Doctors of Azerbaijan established a unique record
The program for medical examination of the population in Azerbaijan is successful: in 2 months free examined were 4 million people, said President Ilham Aliyev during the April 13 meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of socioeconomic development in the first quarter of this year.
Former physician, head of the Research Center East-West Arastun Orujlu told Turan that those who prepared this statement for Ilham Aliyev themselves need to be screened as these figures "do not fit in any gate." Judging by the numbers, per night passed a comprehensive examination of not less than 77 thousand people, and in these conditions ( human and technical capacity , the total number of government employees, etc.) it is not practically possible . At the same time Orujlu said that the culture in general medical examination of the population of Azerbaijan is still not low.
It should be noted that, for example, no employee of the agency Turan passed free screening in health facilities.
The President also touched on other aspects of the welfare of the population against the background of economic growth for the I quarter by 2.5%. According to him, the average monthly wage in the mentioned period increased 7%, and deposits in banks grew by 20%. He announced the impending reform in agriculture.
According to the State Statistics Committee , in 2008-2012 in public and private clinics were examined preventive 3,1-3,42 million people, of whom 70% of citizens and 18 years .
Recall that in Azerbaijan there are 1,725 medical clinics health enterprises that are able to serve 105,500 people per shift. Compared with 1991, this figure decreased by 3.2 %.
According to the Ministry of Health, licenses for medical services are 508 subjects, including 85 physical persons. After gaining independence in 1991, the number of doctors in Azerbaijan increased from 27.5 thousand to 32.3 thousand (17.4 %) and nurses dropped 68 thousand to 57.5 thousand (-15.5 %). If in 1991, 10 thousand people had 38.7 qualified physicians and 95.8 nurses, in 2013, these figures dropped to 35 and 62.3, respectively.
At the meeting, the President also touched on other aspects of the welfare of the population against the background of economic growth for the I quarter by 2.5%. According to him, the average monthly wage in the mentioned period increased 7% and deposits in banks - 20%. He announced the impending reform in the agriculture.
Experts believe that the generalized rosy statistics is required by the corrupt government that needs public support. The government claims that Azerbaijan is ahead of European and other countries to the low level of unemployment and poverty (about 5 %). The society is skeptical of these figures. - 08D-

Azerbaijan’s economy, which is heavily dependent on oil revenues, faces a stark warning in the 2021 report by Carbon Tracker titled “Beyond the Oil States: The Urgent Need to Reduce Dependence on Oil in the Context of the Energy Transition.” The report ranks Azerbaijan among the most vulnerable oil-dependent countries, placing it in the "5th group" — a category reserved for nations expected to experience a decline in oil and gas revenues exceeding 40% over the next decade. This group includes Angola, Bahrain, Timor-Leste, Equatorial Guinea, Oman, and South Sudan, highlighting shared economic risks for these states.

In Azerbaijan, the government has increasingly relied on tax exemptions for imported goods as a tool to stabilize domestic market prices. The exemption from the 18% VAT on wheat imports, extended this year, exemplifies this approach. New measures have also been introduced, including tax relief on imports of electric vehicle chargers, while exemptions for high-cost medications are currently under discussion. Notably, defense imports continue to be free from taxes and customs duties.
