Fire on Guneshli Oilfield
Baku / 26.09.16 / Turan: A fire broke out due to the release of gas from a well on Platform No 19 of the Oil and Gas Extracting Department (OGED) named after 28 May on September 26, the SOCAR press office reported. As a result of the measures taken by the personnel of the OGED, 49 people on the platform were not injured.
Employees of the paramilitary blowout service are taking measures to stop the emission of gases.
From this message it is not clear whether it was possible to quench the fire and whether the people were evacuated from the platform.
Recall that on December 4, 2015 there was an accident on Platform No 10 of the same oilfield, which was the worst one in the entire history of Azerbaijan. As a result of the gas fire, 65 people were trapped on the offshore platform. Only half of the oilmen were rescued. Some of the victims were not found, and 13 bodies were found by rescuers weeks or even months after the disaster. -16D-
