The annual 51th Munich Security Conference opens on Friday in Germany. Accordance to site of the conference, its main themes will be the collapse of the international order in connection with the crisis in Ukraine and its implications for European security architecture, as well as the situation in the Middle East. The global crisis of refugees and the fight against terrorism will also be among the main issues on the agenda. The conference, which will be held February 6-8, is attended by the 20 heads of state and government, 60 ministers of foreign affairs and defense, and 30 heads of major international organizations and companies.
On February 5 the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev came to Bavaria to participate in this forum. On the eve of the conference at the level of the leaders of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine will be held consultations on the development of a solution to the Ukrainian crisis, the primary results of which can be heard in Munich.
In an interview with reporters of publication Der Tagesspiegel, the head of the Munich Security Conference, the German diplomat Wolfgang Ischinger suggested that the causes of many of today's conflicts are the inability of modern international bodies responsible for security and order in the world, to work effectively.
According to the diplomat, the UN Security Council should be reformed, because in its current state, the members of the Security Council are not able to work constructively.
"At present the world order is collapsing. In 2014, for example, in the world began two new major conflicts: in Iraq and Ukraine. Now, as never before, the issue of so-called global governance has become very important: the UN Security Council should be tasked with resolving these conflicts every week. But it has been blocked," RIA Novosti quoted Ischinger.
The Munich Security Conference is held annually in early February since 1962, and is financed by the Government of Germany.-0-
