Azerbaijan will present a report on the implementation of the goals of sustainable development
New York / 10.07.17 / Turan: The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development began at the UN Headquarters in New York. Its participants will assess the results of the implementation of the tasks aimed at eradicating poverty and hunger, improving health and improving the well-being of the population, ensuring gender equality, promoting industrialization, protecting the seas and developing partnerships.
According to the UN press center, 17 goals of sustainable development for the period until 2030 were unanimously adopted by all 193 UN member states in 2015. In this document, world leaders pledged "to end poverty and hunger in all their forms and manifestations and to ensure that all people can live in a healthy environment and realize their potential in conditions of dignity and equality."
According to the report of the UN Secretary-General, over the past 10 years, more than a billion people have been able to break out of poverty. However, about 760 million people still live below the poverty line - by $ 1.9 per day.
At the same Forum, from 17 to 19 July, 44 States will submit voluntary national reviews on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Among them - Azerbaijan, Belarus and Tajikistan. -02D-
