Embassy of Ukraine on Reasons for Failure of Event at BSU
Baku / 14.11.18 / Turan: The Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan sent to Turan IA clarification on the publication of the agency on November 13 about the cancellation of a round table on the Holodomor in Ukraine at Baku State University (BSU). http://www.turan.az/ext/news/2018/11/free/politics%20news/ru/76616.htm
"On November 13, the BSU informed the Embassy that holding an event with the participation of V.Sergiychuk, a professor at the T. Shevchenko Kyiv National University in such a format as previously agreed, namely, with the participation of teachers and students of BSU, was impossible.
We were offered to hold only a meeting of historians, which did not correspond to the concept of the event, since it was assumed that Professor V.Sergiychuk would give a lecture to a wide audience. Therefore, the Embassy decided to change the venue," the letter from the Embassy said.
A spokesman for the embassy, V. Koval, added that the round table on the Holodomor will be held on November 15 at 12 o'clock in the premises of the diplomatic mission of Ukraine. Historians, journalists and representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora are invited.
In previous years, this traditional event was held in the halls of Baku hotels rented by the Embassy.
In 2006, the Holodomor was recognized as the genocide of the Ukrainian people by the Law of Ukraine "On the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine". In 2010, the decision of the Kyiv Court of Appeal proved the genocidal nature of the Holodomor and the intentions of Stalin, Molotov, Kaganovich, Postyshev, Chubar, Khataevich, and Kosior to destroy part of the Ukrainian nation. -0-
