Baku / 27.02.20 / Turan: By decision of the Georgian government, the border with Azerbaijan is closed for two weeks. This was announced by the Minister of Health of the country Yekaterina Tikaradze at a briefing in the evening of February 26.
This decision was made after a Georgian citizen who visited Iran became infected with the corona virus. He returned to Georgia through Azerbaijan.
“We do not have a panic, since we are taking all measures to ensure that there is no epidemic in Georgia,” said Tikaradze, who had a meeting with the Prime Minister before the briefing.
According to Gamkrelidze, the general condition of the patient is normal, and he has no clinical manifestations or high fever. He also stressed that today Georgia is fully prepared to repel the pandemic and called on the population to calm.
Gamkrelidze also said that the man came from Azerbaijan by taxi. The relevant services of the Ministry of Health have already begun to establish the route of movement of the infected to identify all possible contacts. Also, the World Health Organization will be notified of the first case of infection in Georgia. -02D-
