Representatives of the State Security Service will be officially represented in international organizations
Baku/28.12.22/Turan: On December 28, the head of state issued a decree on increasing the effectiveness of cooperation between the State Security Service of Azerbaijan and international organizations, special services and law enforcement agencies of foreign states.
To increase the effectiveness of the fight against international terrorism, transnational organized crime and cybercrime, the head of the State Security Service, in agreement with the President of the country, is instructed to appoint representatives of the State Security Service in other countries and international organizations.
Candidates must be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan before being presented to the head of state.
Representatives of the State Security Service in foreign states and international organizations perform their functions in the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan. -02D-

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
