Rustam Ibragimbekov detained at Baku airport
The famous Azerbaijani screenwriter and director, co-founder of the Forum of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia (FIA) Rustam Ibragimbekov is not let into the country. December 30 at 16:00 upon the arrival from Moscow, the capital's airport took away his diplomatic passport and he was detained at the border control.
"I was told that my diplomatic passport was being checked. Then I gave them my regular passport and asked them to let me into the country on the basis of this document.
However, they refused and said, "Wait." Now all the passengers of my flight have passed through border control. In this zone, I have remained alone," Rustam Ibragimbekov told Turan.
He also said that he was dropped out of the VIP bus and brought to the common room.
In Baku airport the officials refused to comment on the matter, stating that it was within the competence of customs officers and border guards. In these departments no one commented on this either.
To understand the causes of the incident, the other co-founder of the FIA, Eldar Namazov went to the airport. He said that the foreign embassies in Baku were notified about the incident.
It is noteworthy that a diplomatic passport guarantees the inviolability of Azerbaijani citizens in the world. It turns out that such immunity is not guaranteed in Azerbaijan. -06D –
