Senate Committee Approved the Nomination of Morningstar as Ambassador to Azerbaijan

At a meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on June 19, its members voted to support the candidacy of Richard Morningstar as the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan. The last stage is the total vote of the Senate.
Turan’s Washington correspondent reported during yesterday's vote, pro-Armenian senators Boxer and Menendez supported candidature. At the same time, they called Morningstar to counteract the "military rhetoric by the authorities of Azerbaijan against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.  Taking measures to stop the fighting on the front lines, and to investigate the state of Armenian churches and graveyards."
Morningstar said that peace and tolerance are the components of U.S. foreign policy. He promised that he would call on authorities of Azerbaijan to prepare people for peace, not war.
It is unclear when the final vote on the candidacy of Morningstar will take place. -25B-
