This morning the disabled Karabakh war veterans and their families on crutches and in wheelchairs came to building of the Milli Mejlis. They demanded the issuance of benefits stipulated by law. According to the deputies Siyavush Novruzov and Vahid Akhmedov, the government and the Constitutional Court dispute about the allowances. The MPs asked Parliament to help the disabled people, to eliminate injustice when giving them apartments and cars. The chairman of the Mill Mejlis Oktay Asadov expressed confidence that the government and the Constitutional Court will find a common solution, and not paid sum will be issued to disabled veterans. Hundreds of people who gathered in front of parliament demanded a meeting with speaker, but only a few deputies met with them, and promised to deal with their problem.
* The benefits relate to the soldiers who died or went missing during the war in Karabakh. In addition, veterans demand payment of their benefits, which they must receive under the law, but were not granted by the Defense Ministry.
Currently, there are 46 courts claims of veterans to the Ministry of Defense. Part of the lawsuits was granted by the courts, but the Ministry of Defense did not fulfill them. -02D-
