DEVAMM called for the release of political prisoners-slamists
The Center for Protection of Freedom of Religion and Belief (DEVAMM) welcomed the release of political prisoners in recent years the group. "In recent days were released a group of activists who have been arrested for political activity and freedom of expression, we hope that this process will continue," said in a statement. The organization expects the release of the leader of the REAL Movement Ilgar Mamedov, journalist Khadija Ismayilova and other political prisoners.
Yet, in custody remains a large group of believers, including well-known Islamists - the leader of the Islamic Party Movsum Samedov, theologians Faramiz Abbasov, Abgyul Suleymanov, Elshan Mustafaoglu, Jeyhun Jafaroglu, and others.
DEVAMM regrets that sometimes different approach is observed in the civil society to the political prisoners, and the rights of faithful are not protected. This is - "a reflection of the global Islamophobic trend, which appeared under the influence of some representatives of the bureaucracy and civil society."
DEVAMM calls on the Azerbaijani authorities to release all other political prisoners, included the arrested for their religion. –06D—
