On Decree in Defense of Martyr Servicemens Families
Baku / 19.04.18 / Turan: President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on additional measures to strengthen the social protection of family members of servicemen who died in defense of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and who were recognized as missing during military operations.
According to this document, the provisions of the law "On compulsory state personal insurance of servicemen", which entered into force on August 2, 1997, also apply to the families of servicemen who died or disappeared before this date.
Thus, a one-time benefit of 11,000 manat will also be allocated to the heirs of servicemen who died or went missing during military operations before August 2, 1997.
Commenting on this decree, the military expert, lawyer Telman Abilov told Turan that NGOs involved in military affairs have been trying to achieve this since 2005.
In this case, the first court decision in favor of families of martyrs was taken only in 2010, and compensation was paid in 2011.
"We have achieved about 30-40 court decisions on the payment of compensation," said Abilov.
Later the process took on a mass character. However, despite the adoption of about 100 judgments, the state company Azersygorta refused to pay compensation.
At the end of 2013, the Constitutional Court ordered compensation for the families of martyrs. This happened after a veteran of the Karabakh war Zaur Hasanov arranged self-immolation in front of the Constitutional Court building.
The new decree will affect more than 10 thousand families of martyrs, Abilov said. -06D--
