Prosecutor Asks to Sentence Men Accused of Murdering Journalist to Long Prison Terms
Today at the trial on the case of the journalist Rasim Aliyev’s death the prosecutor asked for prison sentence terms for the accused.
The prosecutor offered to sentence Elshan Ismayilov and Azad Aliyev to 14 years, Jamal Mammadov to 12 years, Kenan Madatov and Kamal Mustafayev - to 11.5 years in prison.
The prosecutor asked to recognize them guilty of "intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, resulting in the death of the victim" (Art. 126.3 of the Criminal Code).
Turan was told by the injured party's lawyer Fariz Namazly. He refrained from detailed comments, saying: "We are not satisfied with the fact that the doctors have not been prosecuted," said the lawyer.
Recall that Rasim Aliyev was beaten by a group of 5-6 athletes on 8 August 2015. The next day he died in hospital from internal bleeding. Those who beat him were arrested. The reason for the attack was the criticism of the action of the known soccer player Javid Huseynov by the journalist on Facebook.
Those who attacked the journalist took revenge for his criticism of their friend and relative. The main culprit, Javid Huseynov is charged with failure to report the planned crime, although the injured party and the colleagues of Rasim Aliyev consider him the organizer of the crime. -05B-
