Protection demands to justify Seymour Hazy

On Tuesday at a trial in the Absheron court in the case of a journalist Seymour Hazi spoke lawyers. Adil Ismailov said there was no evidence of Hazy’s guilt, and the incident with his participation is a planned provocation against the journalist. The investigation presented unsubstantiated charges in the case of conviction; the court would be an accomplice of fraud. Ismailov asked for a new trial investigation and justification of Hazy.

According to counsel, the indictment does not indicate the time of bringing a lawsuit. In addition, the case started without examination. Although the incident occurred at 12:30 pm on August 29, after 40 minutes, the scene was inspected.

At 13:45 at the Hazi gave testimonies, and at 14:35 already was adopted a decision on his detention.

The lawyer asked for an inquiry from the Ministry of Interior on the results of the investigation on another fact - the abduction of Hazy on 26 March, 2011 in the same village of Jeyranbatan. Then he was kidnapped by unknown and beaten; and the journalist was told, “Do not be a fool, do not write about Ilham Aliyev.”

The lawyer also pointed to contradictions in the testimony of another party to the conflict - Hasanov, who claimed to be offended by Hazy because he did not answer his letters on Facebook. The lawyer petitioned to investigate exactly who controlled the page by Hasanov, since it was active after his arrest.

The lawyer also applied for a listing of telephone conversations of Hasanov on the day of the incident. Protection has information that he had arrived there two hours before the conflict. However, the court rejected all these petitions.

The lawyer Elton Guliyev also pointed to the blatant falsification of the facts in this case. So, Hasanov admitted that he does not have e-mail, and of course, he could not open a page on Facebook. Hence, there is a provocation against Hazy.

Guliyev also noted that both involved in the incident are accused of hooliganism that is nonsense, because if one bullies, then the other must be protected.

Hazy defended himself, and cannot be brought to trial, and therefore should be acquitted.

The journalist said that in prison they took away from him a text of final word, and the lawyer Ismailov asked the court to ensure the return of the text of his speech. After that, it was announced that the next meeting is scheduled for January 29th.
