The scandal in the case of Avaz Zeynalli
Today, the trial in the editor of "Khural", Avaz Zeynalli, continued in the Serious Crimes Court. During the meeting, there began a scandal and squabble. It happened as soon as the deputy Gular Akhmedova entered the room; Zeynalli was arrested at her complaint.
Akhmedova and Zeynalli began to accuse and insult each other, and Akhmedova’s relative, and TV conductor, Ilgar Mikyailoglu, started hand-to-hand fighting with Avaz Zeynalli’s brother. As a result, the judge was forced to suspend the process.
During the testimony, a deputy Gular Akhmedova reiterated that she was subjected to blackmail by the editor. Thus, the newspaper made an announce that shocking materials of Akhmedova will be posted.
To resolve the situation, she came to the office and promised to give the editor 10,000 manat in exchange that the newspaper will not publish any material damaging her.
Her conversation with editor was recorded on tape. Then she appealed to the prosecutor, and the editor was arrested.
Today, another claimant gave a testimony, the director of publishing house "Azerbaijan" Agabek Askerov. He accused the newspaper of defamation and insulting the honor and dignity. Then he appealed to court and demanded to publish apology and refutation.
Avaz Zeynalli can be imprisoned for extortion by threats. However, he argues that the true reason for his persecution is a criticism of the authorities.
The international community and colleagues of Zeynalli believe the charges against him inappropriately harsh and unreasonable. The trial will continue on July 11. -05B-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
