Alcohol Production to Be Expanded
Azerbaijan on the background of improving relations with Russia intends to produce more alcohol. According to government forecasts, the greatest progress will be made in the production of sparkling wines - if in last year's trade there was delivered 16,300 deciliters of fizzy drinks, this year's winemakers undertake to fill retail 50 000, next year - 52 000, and in 2016 – a maximum of 55,000 deciliters.
On beer the situation is as follows – 5 000 222 deciliters last year, 5.413 million - this year. In 2015 it is planned to produce 5.845 million, in 2016 – 6 428 000, in 2017 – 7 122 000, and in 2018 - 8 013 000 deciliters.
On vodka - 725 200 last year, 856 300 - this year. In 2015 - 887 100, in 2016 - 911 400, in 2017 - 931 600, and in 2018 - 952 300 deciliters. On strong wines - 753,100 last year, 780,700 - this year. In 2015 - 822 600, in 2016 - 988 000, in 2017 – 1 032 100, and a year later – 1 040 100 deciliters. On locally made brandy the numbers are not as impressive - 132,500 last year, 138 500 - this year. In 2015 - 141 600, in 2016 - 143 000, in 2017 - 144 500, and in 2018 - 146 000 deciliters.
The government also expects the growth of soft drinks - 26,657,500 last year, 28,060,600 - this year. In 2015 - 29,537,500, in 2016 - 31,092,200, in 2017 - 32,728,800, and a year later – 34,451,400 deciliters. --17D-

Hundreds of trucks are stuck in the Kazakh port of Kuryk, facing delays for several days while waiting for ferry transport to Azerbaijan, the Azakhstan portal reports lada.kz. The backlog is due to a combination of reduced ferry availability, adverse weather conditions, and an influx of cargo rerouted because of expanded sanctions on Russia.

While the global economy faces persistent challenges, trade between China and Azerbaijan has defied downward trends, demonstrating significant growth. According to official statistics from Azerbaijan, bilateral trade in 2023 reached 3.1 billion US dollars. In just the first ten months of 2024, trade volume increased by 17.1% year-on-year, reaching 3.02 billion US dollars, putting the annual trade figure on track to hit a record high.
