Construction of upper modules of offshore platforms Shah Deniz 2 started
Construction of the upper modules of the offshore platforms of the Shah Deniz-2 project officially started yestoday. Preparation for the project was carried out before that.
Construction of the upper modules of two platforms as a part of development of the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea will be completed in summer 2017.
Construction of the upper modules for the platforms will be carried out by British-Azerbaijani alliance Amec-Azfen-Tekfen (ATA).
The Shah Deniz consortium and ATA alliance signed the contract on December 19, 2013. That time BP company (the Shah Deniz project operator) said that the value of the contract is $974 million.
The contract envisages construction of upper modules of the production platform and technological platform, including the residential bloc. The contractor will have to perform all the procedures up to putting the platforms into operation. All works must be completed in the first part of 2018.
A source from BP told Turan that during the peak of works in mid 2015 over 4500 people will be involved on the production sites of ATA in Bibi Eibat, of whom over 90% will be Azerbaijani citizens.—0—
