Armenia wants to join the International Criminal Court to contain Azerbaijan
Baku/29.12.22/Turan: Armenia must ratify the charter of the International Criminal Court as soon as possible against the backdrop of the threat of new "aggression" from Azerbaijan. The relevant draft was presented at a meeting of the Armenian government on Thursday by Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan.
The document says that in May 2021 and September 2022, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces committed "military aggression" against Armenia, invaded its territory and continue to stay there.
"Judging by the belligerent statements from Baku, the risk of a new military aggression against Armenia remains high." Under these conditions, the early ratification of the ICC statute means that the "crimes" of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the territory of Armenia will fall under the jurisdiction of the ICC. “This will be a deterrent for Azerbaijan,” the justification of the Armenian Ministry of Justice says.--- 02D---
