D. Hogan on the US position about shoot down the helicopter
The U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Dereck Hogan, commenting on the current situation related to human rights situation in Azerbaijan and on the lawsuits against some NGO people, said that the U.S. would continue to engage the government and civil society on democratic reform, and that the U.S. considered all three pillars of U.S. Azerbaijani cooperation - energy, security, and political and economic reforms - equally important.
Asked about the appointment of a new US ambassador, Kogan said he expected to be approved by the Senate candidate for the post of Robert Sekuta. Asking the question on the destruction of the Armenian helicopter a diplomat recalled the position of the State Department and the co-chairs of the Minsk Group.
"We regret the events that led to the destruction of the helicopter. We urge the parties to raise attention to a peaceful settlement. During the meetings of the presidents in Sochi, Wales - with the participation of Secretary of State John Kerry and in Paris - Franus Hollande there was some progress, and agreements were reached. We urge the parties to continue these steps and reach a final settlement," said Hogan.-03B-
