French President promises new initiative to lift "blockade" of Karabakh
Baku/28.08.23/Turan: French President Emmanuel Macron promises to launch a new diplomatic initiative aimed at lifting the blockade of the Lachin corridor.
According to the France 24 TV channel, he said this at the annual conference of French ambassadors.
Macron said he will hold telephone conversations with Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev this week
"We will demand full respect for the regime of the Lachin humanitarian corridor and will take a diplomatic initiative in this direction at the international level to increase pressure," Macron said.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Ayhan Hajizade, in his commentary, called Makoron's statements "unilateral, protecting Armenia and undermining the peace process."
"It is unacceptable for the French president to include phrases such as "Lachin Humanitarian Corridor" in his vocabulary and speak the language of pressure. This is disrespectful to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan," the commentary says. ---02D---
