Lukoil to Take Part in Development of Nakhchivan and Goshadash Fields
Baku / 22.01.20 / Turan: The Russian company Lukoil will take part in the development of the Azerbaijani Nakhchivan and Goshadash fields. The decision was made during a meeting of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev with Lukoil’s head Vagit Alekperov in Davos on January 21.
The promising blocks Nakhchivan and Goshadash are located in the Caspian Sea at 15-30 km north of the Absheron Peninsula. They have a complex geological structure.
In the early 2000s, the US company Exxon drilled an exploration well, but did not find commercial oil reserves. However, the latest technology allows the extraction of oil from deep formations on this structure.
Under the Goshadash bloc, a memorandum was signed with Rosneft in 2018, but this did not go further.
Unlike Rosneft, Lukoil has extensive experience in offshore exploration and production and has become interested in these promising structures. –06D-
