Pashazadeh Blames Demolition of Minaret in Mosque in Georgia
The head of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh Pashazadeh expressed regret over the demolition of a minaret of a mosque in the village of Chela in the Adigen District of Georgia and called for a negotiated solution to the problem. In an interview with Turan, Sheikh did not rule out the interest of a third party in inciting passions in this issue.
Recall that the Georgian authorities reported that the reason for the demolition of the minaret was a violation by the Turkish side in its construction. In particular, the building materials were not properly declared.
The CMO Representative in Georgia on the other hand regarded the incident as a lack of respect for Islam and Muslims, while the Catholicos - Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II called on both sides to remain calm.
Muslims are also unhappy with artificial obstacles to the restoration of historic mosque in the village of Fakhrali. In addition, at the entry and exit of Azerbaijani villages iron cruciform pillars have been set up.
Recently in Georgia there have been a number of obstacles to make collective prayers.
Commenting on the news for Turan, Sheikh said that the CMO representative in Georgia brought his recommendations to the government of this country.
However, Sheikh indicated the interest of some states in escalating the situation. -05B06-
