Customs arrested the books of Jamil Hasanli
Baku / 07.08.18 / Turan: On June 7, customs officers at the Baku airport detained 4 copies of the book "Stalin and the Turkish crisis in the years of the cold war," by the chairman of the National Council of Democratic Forces, Professor Jamil Hasanli, published in Harvard University in English, Turan was told by Hasanli Hasanli.
The monograph explores the political processes of 1945-1953, it was repeatedly published in different languages and the reason for the delay is not clear.
Hasanli noted that the book was first published in 2011. In view of the increased readership demand, it was republished in 2013. In addition, it was printed in Russian in Moscow and Ankara. Copies of the book, including in English, have already been sent to Azerbaijan, and they are in the funds of the main libraries of the country.
Four 4 copies have been sent by the publisher to the author by express mail. In a normal situation, the books had to be delivered to him at home. However, they were "arrested" at the cargo terminal of the Baku airport.
When the scientist arrived at the airport and asked for clarification, he was told that the contents of the book would be "studied", after which they decided to skip them or not.
The author doubted that there would be a specialist at customs who would study the 500-page book in English and would be able to give an opinion.
"I believe that what is happening is another sign of the establishment of an authoritarian, totalitarian system in Azerbaijan. They are afraid of science, literature, real history. They are suspicious of books from the West," Hasanli said.
The attempts to get comments in the State Customs Committee were futile. -06D--

In the stillness of New Year’s Eve, as fireworks lit up the sky over Zagatala, Azerbaijan, a much grimmer scene unfolded. Around 15 stray dogs, accustomed to gathering at the Danachi landfill on the outskirts of the city, were shot by unknown assailants. The timing, coinciding with the fireworks, likely masked the sound of gunfire, ensuring that the heinous act went unnoticed until dawn.
