Headquarters "Kura" demands from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) to report for $1.1 billion
Baku/11.09.13/Turan : Staff of civil society "Kura" sued the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) because of not responding the requests on information on the use of funds, allocated for flood relief in the spring of 2010 in the central regions of the country and the earthquake in 2012 in the north west zone.
The lawsuit filed in Baku Administrative Economic Court, requested to adopt a decision urging the MES to respond to requests for information. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 14.
Headquarters "Kura" requested information on the work done the distribution of aid in regions, size, and recipients of cash compensation, companies fulfilling reconstruction works, the principle of selection , disclosure of contracts.
In addition , it is required to provide a reports which work had been done, and on what 460 million manat allocated for reconstruction of flood zones and 420 million manats in the earthquake zone were spent.
It was also requested to present reports for the construction of two, three, and for-room homes in the quake zone, methods of assessment of the damage, determining the principles of property damage.
"Kura" headquarters believes that the actual sum spent on works was much more lower than the sum allocated for the liquidation of the consequences of the disaster. This amount is 1.1 billion dollars.

Police in the city of Sumgait arrested Sakit Musaev, born in 1988, on charges of illegal drug trafficking over the past weekend, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' press service. During a search of Musaev's home, authorities discovered 50 kg of heroin, as well as marijuana laced with psychoactive substances, opium, and methamphetamine. The statement indicates that Musaev had obtained the drugs from an Iranian individual by retrieving them from a hidden stash. He planned to distribute the drugs to various addresses in exchange for monetary compensation.
