Media Review - November 4, 2019
The concerns of the non-oil sector about foreign investment, work opportunities for critical media, and the condition of repaired roads are topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the need to attract foreign investment in the non-oil sector. This issue is one of the main goals of the ongoing reforms. The author notes that the investment in the country is carried out at the expense of foreign and local resources. Foreign investors invest more in the oil industry.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in January-September of this year, 10,146.2 million manat was allocated to the development of the country's socio-economic sectors. Investments in the oil and gas sector increased by 8.9%.
65.4% of the total investment for the reporting period was directed to production, 25% to the service sector, and 9.6% to housing.
52% of investments came from the non-state sector and 48% came from the state.
During the reporting period, 2890.3 million manat was invested in fixed assets, of which 81.2% belong to investors from England, Turkey, Switzerland, the USA, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Iran and Norway.
The website Musavat.com discusses with the deputy Gudrat Hasanguliyev the issue of expanding the capabilities of critical media. The deputy considers this necessary, because sometimes the head of state learns from them about the difficult situation in the regions.
The President has already said about the need to reduce the powers of the heads of the executive branch and transfer them to municipalities. The MP believes that it is necessary to take steps to ensure the rule of law, strengthen and expand the activities of parliament.
The website Sfera.az discusses why the newly repaired roads are being dug up again. Moreover, Azersu does this for laying sewer lines. And all this takes place because state structures do not have a long-term development strategy. According to existing practice in the world, funds from the state budget are not allocated to structures that do not have a long-term development strategy. In Azerbaijan, one structure builds and repairs roads, another digs them out and there is no interaction between them.
