On Saturday a group of people gathered in front of the Agstafa district prosecutor’s office in the town of Agstafa, demanding the resignation of the head of the office, according to Radio Azadliq.
The protesters expressed dissatisfaction with the course of investigation into the murder of a local resident Tural Hajiyev and the general atmosphere of impunity.
“In the district there are people who can cause bodily injuries and beat anyone and, despite this, they are at liberty. On November 13, my brother Tural Hajiyev was killed. If the criminals were punished in time, such incidents would not be repeated,” Tural’s brother Tapdig Hajiyev said. According to him, his brother was killed for 45 manat, which was supposed to be paid for his car smashed four months ago.
The protesters, which were a hundred people, were visited by the district prosecutor Aslan Surkhayev. He said that in connection with Tural Hajiyev’s murder two people were detained and the third suspect was being searched.
The mother and relatives of the deceased were received at the prosecutor's office. They were promised that all those responsible for the man’s death will be punished. -04D06-
