Public Alliance "Azerbaijan no political prisoners" is created
After four consultations during the past two months, the former "prisoners of conscience" decided to create an organization with a view to a more systematic and consistent protection of political prisoners and others unjustly convicted.
In addition to this founding declaration, a working plan of the new organization was approved, said one of the founders of the organization, staff coordinator of “Kura” civil society, Oktay Gyulaliyev.
According to him, it was decided that each of the 12 founders will prepare a report on the situation of the rights of prisoners and conditions in prisons, where they were serving their terms. On the basis of these materials a report will be prepared, which should be sent on the local community and international organizations.
The meeting participants agreed to prepare a logo and text of the declaration on the establishment and purpose of the organization.
It was decided to prepare a banner with a photo of political prisoners; to send an appeal to PACE Rapporteur on political prisoners, Christopher Strasser.
The members of the organization are going to attend the trials of arrested journalists and activists - Avaz Zeynalli, Taleh Hasmamedov, Ilham Amiraslanov, Ilgar Rzayev, etc.
According to Gyulalyev, among the founders of a new organization are the former "prisoners of conscience": Arif Hajili, Tural Abbasli, Sahib Karimov, Muhammad Majidli, Zulfugar Eyvazli, Elshan Hasanov, Ahad Mammadli, Rufat Hajibeyli, Elnur Majidli, Babak Hasanov, etc.
