A book titled "Children of the Jacaranda Tree” translated by Khadija Ismailova in custody will be published soon, wrote on his Facebook page her colleague Shahvalad Chobanoglu. The author of the work, Seher Delizhani was born in 1983 in Tehran's notorious Evin prison, where her mother was thrown. Her father was also in jail as a political prisoner.
In 1996, Seher with his family moved to the United States, entered the Californian University of Berkeley the Department of Literature. Though the "Children of the Jacaranda Tree" was the first novel of the author, it swiftly won popularity, and was translated into 28 languages and published in 75 countries. The work received numerous awards.
In the introduction to the book Seher Delizhani wrote that her novel was translated into Azerbaijani language for the first time by a person in custody. Secondly, a novel was translated into the native language. "My mother is an ethnic Azeri, she came from Tabriz. At the age of nine years old we moved to Tehran. In the 80 years my parents were imprisoned, and I was adapted by my grandmother, who did not know Persian, and spoke to us only in Azerbaijani," wrote in the preface Delizhani. -03D04-
